About (contact me)Dr. Siedler is a clinical psychology postdoctoral resident with over 30 years’ professional experience in the field of mental health, including supervisory, administrative, program development, and lobbying roles.
Clinically, Dr. Siedler adopts a psychoanalytic framework for patients experiencing a variety of conditions and stressors. Whether treating those diagnosed with adjustment issues and behavioral disorders, with depression and anxiety, or with very severe mental illnesses, Dr. Siedler uses a collaborative, people-first approach to treatment that de-emphasizes the evaluation of symptomatic mood, thinking, personality, level of functioning, and the like. He focuses instead on ways that conflicted, often traumatic experiences can leave people unable to recognize how long-thwarted critical needs remain active in their life—or feeling hopeless that those needs may ever be met. By examining how the past and present mutually inform one another to keep them stuck, patients often experience a newfound sense of freedom, respect for their strengths, and resurgence of hope. |
