About  (contact me)

Dr. Curcio is a Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Resident who provides therapy to individuals, couples, and groups, as well as assessments for a diverse range of concerns.  Dr. Curcio’s treatment approach is relational – he aims to provide a warm, genuine environment to help individuals examine their struggles in the ‘here and now’.  Part of his approach also involves examining how past experiences and unconscious emotions are contributing to current behaviors and beliefs.  Dr. Curcio knows that true emotional healing involves being vulnerable and facing difficult parts of one’s self.  For these reasons, therapy with him is built upon a foundation of safety and mutual respect.
Dr. Curcio specializes in the treatment of anxiety and anxiety related disorders, depression, and trauma.  He also specializes in treating patients with personality disorders and mind-body disorders, such as chronic pain and fibromyalgia.  Dr. Curcio takes a holistic approach to treating each person.  This involves understanding and addressing all areas of health: mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional.

Education

Dr. Curcio earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center.  He also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and studied psychology at Columbia University prior to beginning his doctoral studies.

Experiences

Dr. Curcio has provided therapy and assessment to children, adolescents, and adults
in counseling centers, hospitals, inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, and detention centers.  He is a certified Prolonged Exposure therapist for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Dr. Curcio has also conducted various forms of group therapy geared towards developing interpersonal awareness and healthy coping skills.

He has significant experience treating patients with longstanding relationship issues and trauma, as well as those with co-occurring medical disorders.  Dr. Curcio has researched and published manuscripts on health outcomes related to psychological factors, such resilience and quality of life.  He is deeply interested in the intersections between psychology and Christianity.  In addition to psychotherapy, he teaches his patients ‘every day’, evidenced-based practices to support all facets of their psychological well-being.
